If Xylitol is poisonous in dogs, how does it affect humans?

Xylitol is actually better for humans than regular sugar. It actually contributes 40% less calories than regular sugar and helps to prevent bacterial growth. Although it can be fatal to dogs, it does not affect humans in the same way. This is because humans metabolize Xylitol differently than dogs. Just because something is safe to humans to eat, doesn't mean it's safe for dogs

Is Xylitol poisonous in cats?

No cases have been confirmed to suggest that Xylitol is poisonous in cats. However, it isn't reccomended that cats eat many human foods, as it could potentially put their health at risk.
