What's the point?

What is the point of life
When we all die in the end
Life never seems long enough
Maybe it’s all just pretend?
Why did God give us
Only 100 years or less
To finish our “purpose”
And live through the stress
Could it be
That he thought
Without a short life
No one would do a lot
Maybe that’s all the time he needed
To believe we were good enough
To enter the place called heaven
After working through life’s stuff
Or maybe life can’t be longer
Because of the size of the earth
There would be too many people
And no one could show what they’re worth
But does length of life REALLY matter?
Maybe it wasn’t God’s choice
Maybe the end is when people have completed their task
Either way, at least we get a voice!
Author's Note: In grade eight, I was assigned to do a poetry anothology consisting of about 10 different types of poems. This was when my love of poetry sparked. (It really goes to show how much influence teachers have over their students. Before this, I HATED poetry. But my teacher presented it in a way that made it fun, personalized and interesting) This poem is a "free verse". This was the type of poem that I preferred because it gave me more freedom. Instead of writing the required one poem, I wrote 5 free verses for my anthology. This is only one of them!
What can I say? I like to write!
