About Bailey Thompson

Bailey Thompson is a 15-year-old who resides in Ontario, Canada with her family of 6. Above all, Bailey enjoys writing. She has a very big imagination, which leads to many new stories, poems, articles, columns and other forms of writing.

Bailey discovered her love of writing in grade six, when she was assigned to write a two-page story on a gingerbread house. Two pages was not enough to get the story she'd planned across, so the story very quickly became a 30-page novella titled "Detective Bailz and the Haunted Gingerbread Mansion". Prior to that, Bailey had always loved writing - although she never realized that is what she wanted to do for a living until Detective Bailz was written. Starting in grade 2 and throughout elementary school, Bailey had always put her best effort into English assignments.

In grade eight, after saving babysitting money for the previous year, Bailey invested in a laptop, which began her journey as a writer.

She was now free to write without the worry of her computer crashing - and that's exactly what she did. She began to write non-fiction stories about her own life. She says "it was my way to talk, and get people to listen". Throughout her life, Bailey always had a laid-back, quiet personality and more often than not, her thoughts and ideas were never heard. But writing gave her a voice.

When she realized that non-fiction did not capture as many stories as she wanted to tell, she began writing down the ideas she'd been storing for so long in her head. She found a love of making up characters and planning out plots. She liked controlling what direction each story would take, as well as finally displaying her creative, stored ideas.

Grade nine was the year she began to focus herself on her writing. She contacted few newspapers in hopes for publication and was given the opportunity to write a student column in the Innisfil Scope. For Bailey this was a dream come true. Little did she know, it could only get better.

Although Bailey's voice was reaching family, friends and innisfil residents, she wanted to have a world-wide voice. One that she could speak without any rules or regulations. When her Dad suggested she get a website, she turned down the idea before thinking about it longer. Her Dad suggested to her that she practice making websites, so one night, she did. She worked to create a website for herself, because that's what she knew. When she showed her Dad, he immediately told her, "we're publishing this." However, she wasn't willing to publish just anything. In her opinion, it HAD to be good. So she went back to work, starting with a fresh template and got to work using some new techniques she'd learned.

For weeks before finally launching her website, she worked hard on putting it together. "It was an interesting experience. Although I'd always enjoyed working with the computer, this was a whole new level for me, but I enjoyed it, I think the website turned out well for a first-time project." she says.

Shortly after the website launch, she decided to create a monthly newsletter. This was early January. The first newsletter was sent out late March. Within only a few days of the subscription available, Bailey already had 20 subscribers. She seemed to be off to a good start.

That's where the history ends. Bailey is currently working to land in more publications and make a name for herself. Her goal is simple; to be a household name.

What can I say? I like to write!
